Dr. Pia L. Scott-Boston is a Counselor, Speaker, Consultant, Community Servant, Educator, and Author. A two-time South Carolina State University graduate, she received her BA in Criminal Justice and MA in Rehabilitation Counseling. She received her EdD in Educational Leadership and Management from Drexel University. Over thirteen years, she has worked in Human Services, State Government, Nonprofit, and Higher Education. While working at Georgia State University, she served in leadership roles, providing programming for students in the State Farm Scholars program focused on first-generation students and working with DEI initiatives. She was responsible for overseeing programs, creating pipelines for employment opportunities, career, and professional development, and working with State Farm to educate the community on equity in housing, employment, education, and health.
After leaving Georgia State University, she pursued other leadership opportunities and moved into the mental health and DEI space. She established the P L Scott Group, LLC, which focuses on a 3C’s approach: Counseling, Coaching, and Consulting. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, she works with individuals, couples, and groups to address mental health challenges. She is a certified Coach and Career Development Facilitator, creating and facilitating workforce development and College to Career programs, bridging the gap from education to employment. As a consultant, she develops and promotes continuing education training for counselors, educators, and specialists, focusing on DEI, mental health, College to Career, and specialized topics. Dr. Scott-Boston is also certified in DEI in the Workplace through the University of South Florida’s Corporate Training and Professional Education program.
She is a professor teaching Career Prep and First Year Experience courses. She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the visionary author of How I Got Over: The Educational Pursuit of Black Female Scholars, and the founder of the How I Got Over Conference and Tour. She has been featured in Drexel’s Alumni Newsletter, Drexel University’s Impact Podcast, South Carolina State University’s 40 Under 40 Honorees, Vision and Purpose Magazine, and VoyageATL. She was recognized as one of the Top Ten Professionals of 2022 by the Douglas County Chamber, and she is featured in the documentary “BIPOC in America,” discussing mental health, diversity, and her personal experiences in corporate America.
She has presented on DEI, mental health, and College to Career at Columbia University, University of North Carolina, South Carolina State University, Drexel University, Southern New Hampshire University, and Georgia State University.

Dr. Scott-Boston believes in the importance of education. She is a professor of education, teaching first-year courses, introducing students to the college experience, and teaching career prep to help prepare students for life after college. As an educator, she understands the needs of students not only in the classroom but outside of the classroom. Her passion and commitment to her students show in her advocacy for student success and achievement.

Dr. Scott-Boston is committed to serving her community through active community service and engagement. She works on many projects to address national and international health disparities, diversity, and social justice issues. She is a mentor and works with The Beverly Cunningham Outreach Program to address domestic violence and human trafficking. She is an active member of the Douglas-Carroll-Paulding (DCP) Counties Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., formerly Chair of the International Awareness and Involvement Committee, leading several projects.
